Volunteers are key to Capuchin Community Services and the outreach at the House of Peace and St. Benβs Community Meal. You or your organization can get involved today by searching for an available volunteer opportunity.
In-kind donations of clean and gently used clothing, unexpired nonperishables or other items are welcome. Unlike some other non-profits, donated items are not re-sold. They go directly to those who need them most.
Our guests need gloves, scarves, hats and other winter clothes to stay warm this winter. Many of our Capuchin Community Services’ guests are not sufficiently dressed to ward off the cold of Wisconsin’s cold winters. And many of our children stand on the bus stop without hats and mittens. Can you help us with our Warm Winter Drive?
Capuchin Community Services works alongside these valued partners to deliver food, legal and medical assistance to the people of Milwaukee.
This past Sunday, the St. Ben`s Warming Center opened to the public. The Warming Center will be open every single night at 7 PM, Monday-Sunday and holidays until the end of March. St. Ben`s is located at 930 W. State St., Milwaukee, WI 53233.
We have space for up to 40 men and 20 women, and we invite anyone who needs a warm place to stay overnight. We serve refreshments like hot cocoa, coffee, a warm snack, and dessert! If you have any questions about the Warming Center, please call 414-271-0135.
No one should have to sleep outside in these cold winter temperatures. We`re so grateful for the dedication and compassion of our volunteers, staff and donors who make this happen. π π
Today, we gathered for a special Thanksgiving Meal at St. Ben’s Community Meal, welcoming anyone in Milwaukee experiencing homelessness or simply needing a place to share a meal with others.
We’re so grateful for the incredible volunteers who gave their time to serve on this holiday—it wouldn’t have been possible without your dedication and compassion! π A special thank you to the kids of St. James Parish in Menomonee Falls for the adorable Thanksgiving place mats they made for our guests. Your creativity brought so much joy to the day! ππ¨

This Thanksgiving, let us embrace the spirit of giving and gratitude, inspired by the example of Blessed Solanus Casey. Please join us tomorrow at St. Ben`s Community Meal, 930 W. State Street, Milwaukee, WI 53233, for our Thanksgiving meal from 12 PM β 1:30 PM. We hope to see you there! Fr. Let’s honor this season of giving by uplifting others. 𧑠Please note that the House of Peace will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and will open back up on Friday, November 29. St. Ben`s will be closed on Friday, November 29.
π¦β¨ Thanksgiving was extra special at the House of Peace yesterday, thanks to the incredible generosity of the @bucks and @gruber_law! Together, they provided and distributed 150 turkeys and food boxes.
Bucks players AJ Green, Stanley Umude, and MarJon Beauchamp joined the fun, helping load boxes and turkeys into cars, packing food, and even taking photos with fans! Thanks to all of the organizations who helped fill boxes to make the holidays special for those who face challenging circumstances this Thanksgiving.
This amazing partnership reflects the true spirit of the season—compassion, kindness, and community. We are so grateful to the Milwaukee Bucks and Gruber Law Offices for making a difference in the lives of those we serve. π
A heartfelt thank you to Our Lady Queen of Peace for their generous donation of Thanksgiving food boxes! ππ Your kindness ensures that many families in need will experience the joy and warmth of a Thanksgiving meal.
We are also thankful for every school, church, and business that donates to Capuchin Community Services. While we may not always be able to highlight every donation, please know that your generosity is deeply appreciated and so important to our mission of serving those in need.

"When Frost Arrives"
It always happens when the first frost sets in. During the evening meal—or even before—everyone wants to talk to me. Or rather, they want to share their needs. The list is always the same: a warm jacket, a sleeping bag, gloves, a hat.
Today, as I looked at the long line of people, a wave of anxiety hit me. I don’t have enough jackets. I don’t have the right sizes. But one by one, every “customer” left my clothing closet well-equipped.
The next person came. I didn’t want to raise his hopes too much—what are the odds I’d have his size? And yet… we found something. The very last jacket. Then another person came. And another. Each time, I was sure it was the end of what I had to give, but it never was.
I felt like the widow of Zarephath, scraping out what seemed like the last handful of flour from her jar, only to find moreβ¦ and more. By the end of the day, every guest walked away happy. And their joy? I’m passing it on to you.
The first two days of our Thanksgiving Food Box Distribution have been a huge success, and it’s all thanks to YOU—our incredible volunteers, dedicated staff, and cherished guests. π
Every box packed, every smile exchanged, and every effort made reminds us of the power of community and the spirit of giving.
Your support ensures that so many families will have a warm, joyful Thanksgiving meal. Let’s keep this momentum going and make the season brighter for everyone. We couldn’t do it without you—THANK YOU! π¦
