Time for a Turnaround

“I’ve lived with other people, couch surfing. Now I have a permanent place of my own and a skill to hold down a job.”

Dear Friend,

The summer months have been filled with people coming to our doors for many different reasons. Kaiphus, whose story was in our September newsletter, is no exception. He first came because he was homeless. He got his basic needs met and then moved himself up by attending the “Time for a Turnaround” classes. Then he found a place to live at Capuchin Apartments, got a job, and is now back on his own.

There are many others like Kaiphus at our doors. Struggling with a basic need for food, a shower, clothing, furniture, or other support due to hardship such as sickness or eviction. We minister on a case by case situation. There is no set criteria or rule that works for all people in crisis.

Support the ministry of the Capuchin Community Services, and the friars who dedicate their lives to tending to people’s most basic needs, especially the need for food.

And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’ - St. Matthew 25:40

Your gift today will help us to continue to serve those in desperate need, as well as those who are trying to get back on their feet and establish their own independence. Without your gift individuals and families will go hungry. People will only know how to find the essentials for survival, and not what they need to become independent again. Your gift made monthly could provide the financial support vital to our ministry to feed the hungry, clothe the needy and provide so many other services.

However you choose to donate, your support is critical to the Capuchins’ efforts to minister to the poor at both the House of Peace & St. Ben’s Community Meal. We continue to be good stewards of your gifts and are grateful we can respond in joy to the needy because of your caring. Please consider a donation to help us help others like Kaiphus. You can do so by donating online at: www.capuchincommunityservices.org/donations

In the words of St. Francis of Assisi; May God bless you with peace and all good.

The Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph is a religious community of friars inspired by St. Francis of Assisi. As Franciscans, we live and work with those who are in need of help…the poor, the disenfranchised, the needy. We serve God through the work we do...in the communities we serve.
